Schedule An Appointment

Scheduling An Appointment:

  • To make an appointment, call Dr. Zehnder at 502-345-3863 or email:  cheledvm@louisvillehousecallvet.com. Leave a message with your name, telephone number and general needs, and Dr. Zehnder will return your message as soon as possible to schedule a convenient time for your appointment.
  • Appointments are scheduled with an estimated arrival time of ±15 minutes. Arrival time may vary depending upon traffic and the nature of the appointment prior to yours. Plenty of time is scheduled for your appointment so you and your pet will receive the time and attention you need.

Preparing for your appointment:

  • Annual visits: Please collect a stool sample from each pet that is no more than 24 hours old so it can be checked for intestinal parasites. If you have multiple cats that share a litterbox, collect several samples.
  • If you have cats, please be sure to close all bedroom doors and your basement door. Cats have an innate ability to predict a veterinary visit and will hide under beds, in basements, closets and anywhere else they can't be caught or found. If your cat is shy, it is best to close him/her up in a bathroom prior to the appointment as chasing them is unduly stressful. A pet unavailable for examination due to not being confined prior to a scheduled appointment will incur a trip fee because of the time spent on call. If you are unable to confine your pet prior to a scheduled appointment and need to reschedule, please call ahead of time to avoid an extra trip fee.
  • If you have nervous animals who have had traumatic experiences in the past, try giving them  Rescue Remedy in a favorite treat  an hour before I’m scheduled to arrive. It is very safe and you can find it at any health food store.
